.: Regional and National Interaction

The duties of the Regional Associate Directors (RADs) for NRHH vary from region to region. All are charged with keeping track of the NRHH chapters in their respective region as well as communicating regularly with the NRHH National Office. They are also responsible for recruiting new chapters. A few regions hold regional NRHH meetings during their Regional and No-Frills conferences. The purpose of these meetings is to encourage the exchange of ideas between chapters, provide feedback to the RADs regarding the National Office as well as the Regional Directorship. Some regions allow their chapter representatives to elect the NRHH-RAD for their region. Many of the RADs publish newsletters to keep their constituency updated on the latest NRHH news. They are also responsible for selecting the regional “Of the Month” awards and forwarding them onto the NRHH National Office.

At the NACURH 2006 conference, the NRHH National Office was change to the NACURH Services and Recognition Office (NSRO).  The responsibilities of this office are many. The NSRO currently collects the annual dues and maintains the chapter files. The students who run the NSRO are also responsible for filling pin and certificate orders from the individual chapters. Every month, the staff of the office gathers the Regional “Of the Month” winners and coordinates a committee to select the National winners in each of the categories. The NSRO is also responsible for publishing a newsletter titled the One Percent Press. Article submissions from individuals chapters are always encouraged. The newsletter is printed 4-5 times per year. It includes information regarding national OTM winners, activities of chapters and regions, articles related to NACURH and NRHH, office hours of the staff and much more! The Director and Associate Director of Finance of the NSRO also attend the Semi-Annual and Annual Conferences as members of the NACURH National Board of Directors. The NSRO Director is also charged with chairing the RAD Board.

At least once a month, the RADs get together to have an online chat to discuss national NRHH topics. These topics cover a wide array of different activities that are going on at the national level.  One of my goals is to be as transparent as possible regarding happenings at the national level.  Below, you will see the minutes from each RAD chat. If you ever have questions about topics that were covered in a RAD chat, please do not hesitate to ask!
